Insurance companies see the strangest things

I read an interesting article about one unusual effect the credit crunch is having.
Apparently, the criminal element in society are turning rented flats and houses into cannabis factories. With Landlords feeling the pinch, there may not be so much care about who the tenant is and this may be making life easier for the growers to find properties. It all sounds a bit far fetched but Norwich Union dealt with 60 cannabis related claims in 2007 costing more than £1million and they expect the numbers to rise in 2009.
I’m sure that most Landlord’s have nothing to worry about, but it just shows that insurance companies deal with lots more than floods and car accidents.
